Introducing “Sound Bites”, a lunch time chat where music industry members and musicians can connect with West Anthem—Alberta’s music advocacy organization. We work to ensure that the music sector is valued in cultural, economic, and community development policies at the municipal and provincial level. While not a funding organization, we collaborate with communities, governments, and industry to amplify what’s already happening, fill strategic gaps, and push for the long-term sustainability of Alberta’s music ecosystem. Sound Bites is about making sure that our work continues to align with music ecosystem needs.
Starting out, we’re looking to chat with Calgary and Edmonton crowds as a one year check-in on their music city strategies. It’s about you getting an update on what we see happening AND giving us an update on where you want to see our energy and expertise at work.
12:00-12:24 – Intro
We’ll introduce you to West Anthem and a few committee members—meet who is championing this strategy.
12:25-12:55 – Open Mic
We’ll prepare questions and make space to get your impression of your music scene. Share what you’re seeing and tell us where to advocate to keep the strategy current for today! Depending on attendance, we may use breakout rooms. We’ll also provide a link in the event follow-up email for anyone who has more opinions, questions, perspectives, updates, etc. to share after the meeting.
We’re 1.5 years in on Resonant Energies: A Music City Strategy for Edmonton and it’s time to check-in. Meet the West Anthem team (the music strategy champions), then it’s open mic for you to share what you’re seeing, tell us where to advocate, and keep the strategy current for today!
Whether you’re new to the strategy, a musician, sound engineer, venue operator or festival organizer, if you’re part of Edmonton’s music ecosystem we want you here. Bring your lunch!

Join our online meeting to hear a brief update on Calgary’s music strategy (Resonant Energies). Meet the West Anthem team (the music strategy champions), then its your turn to take the floor.
