Music Cities Convention Heads to Calgary with First Speaker Announcement

We’re excited to share the first wave of speakers announced for Music Cities Convention Alberta 2026!

Calgary, AB—West Anthem is proud to present the Alberta edition of the global Music Cities Convention, taking place September 29 to October 1, 2026, at Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre in Calgary.

The Music Cities Convention brings together city leaders, policymakers, music industry innovators, and creative economy thinkers from around the world to explore how music can drive economic growth, job creation, tourism, urban planning, and community impact.

For Alberta, this is a meaningful moment in the journey to grow and strengthen our music ecosystem. We’re looking forward to welcoming delegates from across Canada and around the world, as well as supporting partners including the National Music Centre and Alberta Music.

The first wave of speakers span from Canada, the United States, and Australia, and includes non-profit leaders, policy influencers, music promoters and more. Visit the link for the initial speaker announcement.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Music Cities Convention Alberta will take place on the traditional land of the peoples of the Treaty 7 region, including the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations). City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, District 6.
We are extremely grateful for these lands on which we reside, work, and play. We make this acknowledgement as an act of gratitude and reconciliation. While championing the arts across Alberta, we intend for our work to contribute to the valuing of traditional art forms and result in greater opportunity for the creative Indigenous talent who walk these lands today.
