Whether you’re new to the strategy, a musician, sound engineer, venue operator or festival organizer, if you’re part of Edmonton’s music ecosystem we want you here. Bring your lunch!
12:00-12:24 – Intro
We’ll introduce you to West Anthem and a few committee members—meet who is championing this strategy.
12:25-12:55 – Open Mic
We’ll prepare questions and make space to get your impression of your music scene. Share what you’re seeing and tell us where to advocate to keep the strategy current for today! Depending on attendance, we may use breakout rooms. We’ll also provide a link in the event follow-up email for anyone who has more opinions, questions, perspectives, updates, etc. to share after the meeting.
West Anthem was established to help stimulate the growth and sustainability of Alberta’s music industry. Its objectives are to develop a comprehensive understanding of the economic profile of Alberta’s music cluster, to build the business capacity of the music industry, to utilize Alberta’s music industry as a key economic driver and a vehicle for diversification, and to establish and implement a live music strategy for Alberta through venue mapping and audience profiling.
While not a funding organization, we collaborate with communities, governments, and industry to amplify what’s already happening, fill strategic gaps, and push for the long-term sustainability of Alberta’s music ecosystem. Check out all strategic initiatives, engagement and reports here.
