The “Chinatown Live Music Series” is a collection of experimental music events held in small unconventional venues in Edmonton’s Chinatown. Inspired by the jams hosted at the Yardbird Suite and New Standards at The Common, the event would showcase a semi-pro to pro level musician as the night’s headliner, immediately followed by an open-mic to create opportunities for amateur musicians to perform. With a run from May to July of this year, five events on a biweekly basis will be hosted at rotating venues to showcase the various vibrant businesses that are located in our North and South Chinatown area.
Key Impact Area: Promoting diversity and inclusion in Alberta’s music industry.

Jyn-Ting Ying 應琬霆 (They/Them) is a queer non-binary Asian-diasporic artist and musician based in Amiskwaciwâskahikan, or what is known as Edmonton, Alberta. Their music blends their classical and jazz training with their love of fantastical soundtracks and avant-garde electro-pop. Outside of their solo projects, Jyn-Ting provides musical support in the form of piano accompaniment to Sorry Not Sorry Improv, and commissioned compositions on interdisciplinary projects such as “Do You See What I See”.
